Given that climate change itself is an unintended consequence of consumption, we need to ground ourselves in humility and eschew high-risk techno-fixes. This means rapidly reducing GHG emissions, especially in affluent societies, and building adaptive communities to face the inevitable climate disruptions that are already baked into the Earth system.
